OBJECTIVE
The Oracle / SQL Database Developer who ensures that database systems are optimally designed for stability, availability and performance. This includes the setup, maintenance, security, problem detection/resolution, and tuning of databases in a networked environment. The Database Developer assists in creating and coordinating database backup and recovery plans, as well as minimizing data loss when a failure occurs.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Gather and analyze business and technical requirements
• Develop packages, procedures, functions, triggers. . . etc
• Make enhancements, modifications, performance related changes and support testing of projects.
• Apply PL/SQL best practices and methodologies.
• Reviews, evaluates, and recommends new tools, technology, and products to enhance various database application components.
• Builds complex views, aggregation/indexing strategies, queries, and scripts to automate functions and improve database performance.
• Assists in database capacity planning, including disk, CPU, memory, and network bandwidth requirements.
• Assist application support staff in identifying and resolving application data issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
4 year college degree desired
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
Oracle certification is required, but highly desirable to have two or more:
• Oracle Database Certification
• Microsoft SQL Certification
• Linux/Solaris Certifications
• Development Language Certifications
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Stay abreast of the latest technological advances as they relate to an information technology environment. Continue in the advancement and study of database management skill sets.

EXPERIENCE
Experiences should cover some of the following areas with some knowledge / exposure to the other areas:
• A minimum of three (3) years increasingly responsible experience in database development, database administration, and systems analysis
• Strong understanding of Oracle databases and relational design principles (10g and 11g)
• Strong PL/SQL programming skills required
• Experience in SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning
• Experience with Oracle SQL Developer
• Experience with Linux
• Strong Debugging and problem-solving skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively organize and communicate across functional and technical lines
• Ability to understand business processes.
• Ability to work and deliver on several assignments simultaneously
• Knowledge of analytical software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent conceptual and analytical skills
• Proficiency with database modeling tools and methodologies
• Experience working with multiple database systems/technologies in a distributed environment
• Experience working with database meta data and associated management strategies
• Demonstrated understanding of data acquisition technologies and concepts including ODBC and ETL
