Responsibility:

Designs, maintains, and improves existing relational databases; analyzes data requirements and informational needs for both desktop and Web applications used in the medical industry; evaluates storage requirements and provides sizing estimates; participates actively in risk assessment, planning, requirements definition, deployment, and design of new and evolving projects; performs data modeling and database tuning; recommends archive, recovery, and loading strategies; supports developers with reporting capabilities, and advises on database use; develops and populates test databases; ensures consistency and interoperability with existing schema and structures; reviews business requests for data; participates in continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality; develops and implements database migration strategies, import/export scripts, queries, stored procedures, triggers, indexes, etc. In this role - you will spend 30-40% of the time on Database Architecture, 30-40% on Database Development and barely 20% doing DBA responsibilities. What is great about the role is all the new development - take their product tables from 30 to 60 tables. Work on migration projects going from smaller databases (Access) to larger databases (SQL). Reports to Software Engineering Manager.

 

Required Skills:

B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; preferably M.S. Degree
Eligibility to work in the US without Visa transfer or sponsorship
4+ years exp with full life cycle major RDBMS platforms like MS SQL Server, Oracle or Access (2003 or later) or Firebird
4+ years exp with relational database design and optimization  
4+ years exp with PL/SQL, scripting exp, particularly with converting/migrating data as part of software upgrades
Recent Data Modeling exp required – must have Ability to translate the logical data models and business requirements into physical data models
Data warehousing techniques and technologies exp
Understanding of database normalization (3NF) and performance trade-offs
Working knowledge (ability to read code) of C#, C++, .Net, and object-oriented concepts
Experience with client/server, n-tier applications
Knowledge of report generation software such as Crystal Reports, Oracle Reports - Advanced Knowledge of generating reporting solutions
 

Desired Skills:

(strongly desired) Experience providing database and application solutions to the medical products industry
Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server
Development experience (ability to write code) with C#, C++, Visual Studio, and .Net
Object-oriented programming experience and training
Experience with XML, security and authentication, and Web-based database solutions

Responsibility:

The C++ / C# Software Engineer / GUI Developer will create and maintain Windows applications for new and existing products. This is a full-time position with competitive salary and full benefits. Successful applicant will develop C++ Windows .net/Win32 object-oriented application software that communicates with embedded software via RS232, and USB links. This position requires the ability to design, document, debug, and test new product software as well as support existing software. The individual selected will work closely with product managers, physicists, and hardware engineers and will provide occasional customer telephone support. The Software Engineer will complete individual projects with minimal supervision as well as need to work well within a team environment. Individual should have strong problem solving skills. Good written and oral communication skills are necessary, and good math skills are a plus. This person will help change the future of the product through his/her ability with GUI Development. Our customer is looking for a candidate with a passion for GUI development to help introduce new GUI techniques to enhance their products!

 

Required Skills:

  • Serial and USB communications experience
  • Experience programming and interfacing with industry-standard databases (Access, Oracle, SQL Server, Interbase/Firebird, etc)
  • Object-oriented systems analysis and design
  • COM/ COM+ / DCOM or other intra-application communication protocols
  • Use of defect tracking and configuration management tools
  • Exp with various methods of software verification such as Code walkthroughs and unit testing etc.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in the medical products industry such as with radiation measurement equipment, nuclear medicine, oncology, radon monitoring, or ionizing radiation products

The GUI Software Engineer will work with R&D developers and artist user groups to design and develop UI and workflows for Windows biometric-based applications, and will be involved in all aspects of the software design cycle, including definition of requirements, architecture design, construction, verification and QA. He/she will gather UI requirements and create prototypes and mock-ups to help stakeholders visualize the end-product and understand system workflow/layout. Will work closely with other members of the development team to ensure smooth integration with back-end technologies, will assist/direct the creative aspects of UI component development; and ensure interfaces can be extended and updated. Unit test all UI components and work closely with QA on testing, propose and estimate UI projects for new implementation, optimizations and refactoring, and provide strong inputs and innovation to the product roadmaps in close collaboration with the project lead and product marketing teams. Requirements: * 4+ years in a software development role.
